Benefits of Logging
Motivation
You can view your own reports, progression and look back at previous months and performances and see how you have improved and what you have accomplished. If you are going through a bad patch, you can look back and see if there is anything that triggered this relating to your training, readiness to train variables and matches
Accountability & Responsibility
You are taking ownership of your own data. You can see all your training and performance with your own personal comments as well as coach feedback.
Competition
Compete with yourself. How can you improve, what do you need to work on, see improvement and get that competitive edge. Your performance trends and patterns cannot be analysed unless you have recorded them.
Goals & Focus
Have a detailed history to look back on and help plan and organise. Knowledge of what you are doing and analysis of same brings focus to your development. Set your goals and have the courage to commit to achieving them.
Avoiding Injury/Burnout
Get to know your own body inside out; see what training loads you can cope with; avoid injury through learning from the system from your own personal data.
It has been shown that the athlete who keeps a training diary will come out on top because of the lessons learnt from past training sessions and competition performances
