International Swedish golfer Robert Karlsson backs Metrifit
One of the leading figures in European golf has used the occasion of the Irish Open in Lahinch to announce his involvement in an Irish sports technology firm which is set to make a huge impression on the golf and sports industry.
Robert Karlsson, the former European No 1 and Ryder Cup player, has come on board with the Co Louth-based company, Metrifit, that has developed state-of-the-art technology to bring health and well-being to the fore in performance in sport and life.
Karlsson, a former European no. 1, has had 12 European Tour wins and was Vice Captain to Thomas Bjorn at the Ryder Cup victory in Paris last year, and is excited to get involved with the company after personally experiencing the benefits it can offer.
My experiences, as a golfer, travelling as much as I do, Metrifit is great for me – it is almost like having an extra coach as it allows my team to keep track of me when I’m away
stated the Swedish star who will play with his newly branded Metrifit golf bag this week.
One of the big advantages is that it is so easy to use. It takes just five minutes every day and they can track me all the time – what I am doing, how I am feeling etc. My team can act on the information provided and it has been very, very beneficial for my whole team.
Personally, it has made me a lot more aware of what I am doing, how much I’m practicing, the loads I put on myself and how I am doing, so it has been an extremely good tool for me to use
As a result of his own experiences, Karlsson felt that he wanted to share the benefits of Metrifit within the golfing community and across all sports.
I can see the potential both for me as a person and also as a golfer and I can see anyone in the golf industry, any player that is interested in health and well-being and the connection between health and well-being and results should be very interested. I can also see in other sports and in life in general how health and well-being is growing a lot and for me it was a natural step I think when I had a chance to become involved in the company and I see huge potential both business-wise but mainly for the well-being of a person – so I am very, very excited
Metrifit was founded by Louth-based businessman Peter Larkin, CEO and Ann Bruen, CTO and is based in Dundalk, Co Louth and is supported by Enterprise Ireland. Metrifit are delighted with Robert’s involvement and are looking forward to working more closely with him.

About Metrifit
Metrifit helps coaches get to know their athletes, and helps athletes get ready to perform. It is a simple, intuitive and effective approach to monitoring looking at how the ‘small picture’ of an athlete’s daily habits, shapes the ‘big picture’ of match day performance.
Whether your use of Metrifit is to have a highly accurate reflection of acute to chronic work-load ratios to make training/competition decisions, to empower student-athletes to be reflective and take charge of their Health & Wellness, or as a basis to engage in conversation with your Student-Athletes thereby demonstrating you care about them as individuals, Metrifit simply works. It meets kids where they reside – on their mobile phones and through technology and is quick, easy, and habit-forming to use.
